Smart Members Field ExpressionEngine (EE) is an add-on launched by ZealousWeb Technologies. It is regarded as an augmented field type that provides the ability to the users to relate to members in the same way they relate to the entries.
In this case, you must create a field similar to a field for relationships. Again, this Smart Members Field ExpressionEngine (EE) extension is supported with Fluid and Grid field types and normal field types.
The smart members' field also possesses a backend that you can use to assign channels to the members or primary roles. So, ZWT's Smart Members Field ExpressionEngine (EE) add-on will effectively work in both ways. It means that you would be able to assign Channel entries to members or primary roles. Along with that, with its help, you can also assign members to Channel entries.
Front-end code for populating data is considered the same as in relationships which offers maximum control over the field type. Again, it is used to populate data and regarded as the Channel entries loop. Just instead of {exp:channel:entries}, you are required to write {exp:smart_members_field:entries}.
In the Smart Members Field ExpressionEngine (EE) extension, you can manually select what you wish to list down in the create or edit entry page field. Again, the entry page field refers to the textbox where you can define what you desire to populate in the entry. This add-on supports filtering by Primary role ID or group ID and member ID.
It also supports order by and sort parameters to maintain flow. One of the crucial things to note in this aspect is that you would not be able to install this extension via. Composer. So, instead of waiting anymore, it is the time when you should install this excellent extension by ZealousWeb to your site.
Follow below steps to install Smart Members Field version:
EE4, EE5 and EE6:
- Download and Extract ZIP file of the module. (We recommend to use latest version.)
- Copy “SmartMembersField > system > user > addons > smart_members_field” folder to “Your Site > system > user > addons” Folder.
- Copy “SmartMembersField > themes > user > smart_members_field” folder to “Your Site > themes > user” Folder.
- Login to backend panel with Super admin credentials.
- Go to “Developer > Add-Ons” and Install Smart members field module.
