for ExpressionEngineZealousWeb’s Smart Compress module is user-friendly and enables users to compress and format the data stored on ExpressionEngine in CSS and JS files. The Smart Compress add-on for ExpressionEngine allows you to compress all JS and CSS files used on the front end. It eliminates the hassle of compressing and uploading individual files and significantly reduces loading time.
We are not providing support for EE3.
Some features of Smart Compress are listed below:
- Easy to install and use.
- Support LESS and SCSS files.
- There are many css formatters available. ( Expanded, Nested, Compact, Compressed, Crunched ) that allows css file formatting.
- Minify or Beautify js files and add as many files you want to add in a single list.
- You can manage file name and server path where you want to save file.
- Create cache for a specific time duration.
- Allow file selection based on enter server path. You just need to check the files that you want to compress or format.
Our add-on supports Expression Engine 7.

ZealousWeb’s Smart Compress module is user-friendly and enables users to compress and format the data stored on ExpressionEngine in CSS and JS files. The Smart Compress add-on for ExpressionEngine allows you to compress all JS and CSS files used on the front end. It eliminates the hassle of compressing and uploading individual files and significantly reduces loading time.
ExpressionEngine uses channels to store data as flexible data containers with fields for any information. The channel tab contains fields containing basic information about the channel, such as a descriptive name, short name, and a maximum number of entries.
The Smart Compress module combines and compresses JavaScript files quickly, reducing the page size and minimizing HTTP requests. The plugin eliminates the need to manually connect and compress multiple JS and CSS files for use on a live site. Smart Compress module enables you to have various separate JavaScropt files for easy editing and debugging on the live site.
Smart Compress add-on for ExpressionEngine processes your website’s CSS and Javascript files to combine, compress and save them as disk files locally so your site loads and displays the files more quickly while making your development process modular easy to manage. The combined files created using Smart Compress can be saved for later use.
Follow below steps to install Smart Compress version:
EE3, EE4, EE5, EE6 :
- Download and Extract ZIP file of the module. (We recommend to use latest version.)
- Copy “SmartCompress > system > user > addons > smart_compress” folder to “Your Site > system > user> addons” Folder.
- Copy “SmartCompress > themes > user > smart_compress” folder to “Your Site > themes > user” Folder.
- Login to backend panel with Super admin credentials.
- Go to “Developer > Add-Ons” and Install Smart Compress module.
